A New Year A New Plan

So I've decided that "my word" for 2014 is going to be PRESENT. I need to start being present in all that I am doing and this totally applies to our finances-I can no longer be in denial about what's going on and have no idea what bills are due when....it's just not working-I mean who would think it would. But this is a big step for me. I am hoping that next year this time we will be starting a new year on a completely different financial note. I've started by getting all of our insurance info together to go meet with a new insurance agent down the street to see if we can get a better deal. We don't qualify for a refinance on our mortgage but I figure if we can do small things like this to lower our rates it will help. I'm going to try to do everything little thing I can.

Day One

I figured starting this blog would help me out with trying to gain some control over our finances and budget. We are drowning in debt and it is finally time we do something about it. I even went to the bank to consolidate some of our credit cards to actually be able to make payments and we were DENIED because we had too many late payments...um yeah that's why I'm trying to be proactive and change the situation.

So today I went to the library and got a whole arm load of books to look at and read over-I also started a mint.com acct.

I hate numbers though...I hate thinking about numbers...but if I want to be a grown up I need to learn to do things I do not like.

Like I said....Day one!
